"Self liner notes"
This time, We was trying to make a song based on something at the production stage, so We made a song based on the movie "Joker".
The song was composed with the image of something like "depressing, angry, and emptiness", and this time it was the first song to incorporate a distortion guitar.
If you listen to it while checking it against the movie, I think it will be another interesting experience!
-Yamato Shoji
The second single as durian. A violent song that incorporates rock elements. I personally like it.
This time, as a new attempt, We challenged to compose with the concept of movie. The movie was released last year [Joker].
I wrote down the song while making notes of the points of interest in the movie and the feelings and actions of the protagonist, then discussing them based on the notes and gradually expanding the image.
The intro was played with the image of the sound from the radio. It feels like bland tone. After that, the piano riff that is the core of this song comes in.
In the theme, I tried to distribute the melody that the two thought about to the left and right speakers. I thought it was quite novel, but when I listened to it, it was surprisingly good.
After that, the riff is taken over and B melody is performed.
And the long-awaited guitar solo. This time, I asked Takuma Ikeda for the guitar part. I like Takuma's sticky guitar solo. Please listen to one!
The time signature returns and continues to the drum solo. Hidden in the violent drum solo, the bamboo flute is also playing solo. Both are pretty rough.
And to the ending.
I think that the storyline was transmitted as the sections were developed one after another without repeating. 5/8 was difficult... It's surprisingly difficult to make an exciting song with a whistle, but it's finished nicely. Can I play this song in live...?
